Austin, TX

About

The Texas capital is unique, with its unofficial motto, "Keep Austin Weird." Also known as the "Live Music Capital of the World," it hosts over 250 music venues, guaranteeing live performances nearly every night of the week. But if you aren't interested in catching a show, you'll find plenty of other things to do, including spending time outdoors with over 300 sunny days a year. Hike Mount Bonnell for an awe-inspiring view over Lake Austin and the downtown skyline. You can enjoy a refreshing dip in the spring-fed waters at the Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Metropolitan Park, spread over 351 acres with miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. The park is also home to the city's botanical garden, the Austin Nature and Science Center and other attractions. Austin is famous for its food scene, particularly BBQ. Franklin Barbecue, which once served President Obama, is a local favorite.
