Sandusky, OH

About

Located along the shores of Lake Erie, just over an hour's drive west of Cleveland, Sandusky is full of surprises. USA Today readers even named it the best coastal town in America in 2019, winning over famous destinations like Carmel-by-the-Sea in California and Gulf Shores, Alabama. It boasts picturesque parks and a downtown lined with impressive architecture, art galleries, independent shops and fantastic dining options. History buffs can explore its role in the Underground Railroad and experience life in the past at the historic Sandusky State Theatre, a movie theater and performing arts venue in operation since 1928. Another popular venue is its waterside amusement park, Cedar Point, with lots of indoor water parks to enjoy, as well. During the warmer months, island-hopping cruises and ferries depart from downtown bringing the potential for many memorable day trips.
