Opportunity:

ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Night shifts, first to float, every other weekend requirement
• Alternating holiday schedule - usually every other holiday
• No call or standby requirements
• Float between ER and MedSurg support as needed
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:8 utilizing team nursing approach
• Must have 2 years of nursing experience
• Previous travel experience not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Must be able to titrate drips including electrolytes, hypertensive medications, IV antibiotics, and blood transfusions
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips
• Experience with dementia, stroke, skin care, and geriatric patient care required
• Common patient types include dementia patients, dependent older adults, diabetes management, rehab/restorative care post acute illness
• Handle IV medication, fluid and blood administration, wound care, initial trauma care in ER
• Work with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Team scheduling with block scheduling available upon request
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Scrubs required with no specific color requirement
• BSN not required

This healthcare facility is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving a rural community. The facility operates multiple units including emergency services, medical-surgical care, and swing bed services for patients requiring extended care. The hospital utilizes team nursing approaches and maintains charge nurses on each shift to support patient care coordination. The facility focuses on providing comprehensive care for a primarily geriatric population while handling various medical conditions and trauma cases.
