Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts starting at 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required, including both Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday rotation shared with core staff
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-6 on nights; LPNs available with virtual admission and discharge nurses to assist
• Primary care nursing model is frequently used - must be comfortable with this model
• Float to like units only; if floated to higher acuity unit, will work as a help-all and not carry a full patient load
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Must have total joint experience
• Must have understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), and sepsis management
• Experience with TPN/Lipids and narcotic usage required
• Minimum 1 year of surgical experience required
• Must be able to titrate Heparin drips per protocol
• RNs required to interpret their own telemetry strips (Draeger monitors)
• Common diagnoses include neuro procedures (laminectomy, cervical fusion), ostomies, hernia repair, joint replacements, fem pop bypass, dialysis, BKA/AKA, DM, sepsis, and urgent OR cases
• Fast-paced environment with 8-12 surgical admissions per day possible
• Scrub color required: Black
• Schedules are set 6 weeks in advance; block scheduling not guaranteed
• BSN not required

Facility:

This is a Level 2 Trauma acute care facility with a 48-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit spread across two buildings on the third floor. The unit supports a wide range of inpatient surgical cases and is equipped with telemetry monitoring technology and respiratory therapy support. The facility is currently undergoing an EPIC system conversion in Q2 2026 and maintains a collaborative care environment with charge nurses, CNAs, monitor techs, and virtual nursing support to assist staff.
