Opportunity:

Unit Med Surg/ TELE - Inpatient Surgical - 3rd floor

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts starting at 7:00 PM
• Must have EPIC experience as facility is going through EPIC conversion in Q2 2026
• Local clinicians accepted
• Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4-6 nights, 1:5-6 with LPN support available
• Primary care nursing model frequently used - must be comfortable with this approach
• Virtual admission and discharge nurses available to assist
• Work on 48-bed unit across two buildings
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must have total joint experience and 1 year of surgical experience required
• Must understand PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), sepsis management
• Experience required with TPN/Lipids and narcotic usage
• Required to titrate Heparin drips per protocol
• Must be able to interpret telemetry strips (Draeger monitors)
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday for both shifts)
• Participate in holiday rotation with core staff
• Float to like units only; if floated to higher acuity, work as help-all without patient assignment
• No call or standby requirements
• Black scrubs required
• One 12-hour orientation shift on unit and shift of hire
• Fast-paced environment with heavy patients, 8-12 surgery admissions per day plus discharges
• Common patient types: neuro surgeries, joint replacements, ostomies, hernia repairs, sepsis, chronic pain management

The facility features a modern 48-bed medical-surgical and telemetry unit across two buildings, supporting a wide range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, and general surgery. The organization maintains advanced technology systems and provides specialized support services including virtual nursing assistance and dedicated telemetry monitoring.
