Opportunity:

Cardiac Medical Unit

Job Details:

• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement or 4 week shifts
• Maintain 5:1 patient ratio on 20-bed cardiac step-down unit
• Care for patients with cardiac management, chest pain rule-out, CHF, COPD, stroke overflow
• Handle complex procedures including thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomies, pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, and CIWA protocols
• Work with equipment including IV pumps, Sara Steady devices, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and Kangaroo pumps
• Use Meditech Expanse documentation system
• Participate in bedside shift rounds and handoffs
• Must be proficient in telemetry monitoring
• Cannot accept patients post-catheterization lab unless radial artery approach was used
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Professional dress code required
• License must be in hand at time of submittal
• Unit staffing includes 4 RN teams with free charge nurse, 2 LNAs, and unit clerk

This regional medical center operates as a STEMI hospital, designated stroke center, and Level II trauma center, providing comprehensive cardiac and emergency services to the community. The facility features a specialized cardiac medical unit that serves as a step-down from cardiac surgery and intensive care units, offering advanced cardiac care with state-of-the-art equipment and technology for complex cardiac procedures and monitoring.
