Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Trauma

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Holiday work requirement as needed according to permanent staff holiday schedule
• Patient ratios: 1:6 for floor patients (med-surg), 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Must have Epic experience and Level 1 trauma experience required
• Must have experience with 1:6 ratio patient care
• BLS certification required
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Floating to like units (floor/stepdown) required
• Care for multi-trauma patients, TBI, fractures, general surgery, and bariatric surgery patients
• Must have experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, traumatic injuries, chest tubes, respiratory support, and complex spinal cord injuries
• Handle titratable drips including heparin and PCAs on floor, insulin and cardizem on stepdown
• Must be able to read and validate telemetry strips
• Work collaboratively with care management, surgical and medical services, rehabilitation services, and perioperative services
• 30 total beds: 12 floor beds and 18 stepdown beds
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract

Facility:

This healthcare facility features a 33-bed trauma and general surgery inpatient unit that operates as both a stepdown and floor unit. The facility is a nationally-recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center and maintains a high-impact, fast-paced environment that allows nurses to practice at the top of their scope and abilities. The unit provides both stepdown and floor level care, offering nurses experience with the breadth and time management of floor nursing and the depth and critical thinking required for stepdown care. The facility maintains 24/7 support with budgeted charge nurses, house supervisors, respiratory therapists, monitor technicians, and clinical associates.
