Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• Required to titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix (no cardiac drip titration)
• Monitor techs located on level 5 monitor telemetry patients; nurses are not expected to read and interpret telemetry independently
• Respiratory therapy staff manage breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and respiratory equipment such as BiPap, CPAP, and high flow O2; nurses responsible for monitoring only
• May be floated to other Med/Surg, Med/Surg-Tele, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent schedule
• If working rotating shifts, schedules will be spread so days and nights are not worked in the same week (typically 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights)
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedule managed by the manager with consideration for requested time off
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS
• RN scrub color: Navy blue
• Must have a valid driver's license and reside outside a 50-mile radius
