Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Rotating shifts may be required, typically structured as 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights within the same week not scheduled
• May be floated to other Med Surg, Med Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent schedule
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling available; schedule is managed by unit manager with consideration for requested time off
• Titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix; cardiac drip titration not required
• Monitor tech located on level 5 reads and monitors telemetry; nurses not expected to read and interpret tele strips independently
• Respiratory therapy staff manage breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and respiratory equipment including BiPap, CPAP, and high flow O2; RNs required to monitor only
• Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• Scrub color: Navy blue for RNs
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• BSN not required
• Must provide a copy of unexpired driver's license with submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
