Opportunity:
RN - CVU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with day shift running 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and night shift running 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with 1:3 ratio for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Care for patients requiring intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients, including Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A-fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular diagnoses
• Heavily support thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart departments
• Titrate drips including Amio, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epi, Cardizem, and multiple other blood pressure management medications
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit has remote tele techs with hardwired and tele box capabilities
• Work with respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Nasal Cannula
• Float to same level and lower levels of acuity as needed
• Charting performed in EPIC
• Scrub color required: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation tailored to experience, with a pass/fail open book exam requiring a minimum score of 90%
• Minimum 1 year of experience with this patient population required
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from facility and may not be concurrently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
Facility:
This is a Level 1 Trauma acute care facility with an 18-bed Cardiovascular Unit that provides intermediate care for cardiac and vascular patients. The facility offers comprehensive support services including 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage, cardiology on-call after hours, respiratory therapy available around the clock, and remote telemetry monitoring technicians. The unit strongly supports a robust thoracic and structural heart program along with electrophysiology and catheterization lab services.
