RN - ER
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with various shift times including 7:30 AM-8:00 PM, 10:00 AM-10:30 PM, 11:30 AM-12:00 AM, 1:30 PM-2:00 AM, 3:30 PM-4:00 AM, and 7:30 PM-8:00 AM
• AM shift workers will be scheduled with AM start times and PM shift workers with PM start times - no late shift followed by an early shift
• Scheduled based on unit need with no block scheduling
• Minimum 4 Saturday/Sundays within 6 weeks (2 weekends total) required
• Holiday coverage as needed
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Treat an average of 170 patients per day in a 45-bed ER including 4 hallway beds, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, and 1 cardiac room
• Care for pediatric and adult patients including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and high acuity ESI level I patients
• Administer and manage common drips including Nicardipine, Propofol, Fentanyl, Norepi, Nitro, Versed, and Precedex
• Read and interpret SpaceLabs cardiac monitors independently
• Must have 2.5 years of ED experience from a larger urban hospital setting; trauma experience preferred
• BSN required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC
• Charting system: EPIC
• May occasionally float to other ER locations
• No specific scrub color required as long as attire is clean and professional
• Acute care setting
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a high-volume emergency department with Trauma Level IV designation, STEMI Level I, and Stroke Level II certifications, and is actively pursuing a Level III Trauma designation. The ER is supported by an in-house security team, respiratory therapy available 24/7, on-site X-ray and CT capabilities, and a dedicated team including charge nurses, CNAs, and physician and APP coverage. The department features a separate triage area, vertical space for rapid assessment, and dedicated psychiatric rooms with 1:1 sitter support.
