Opportunity:

ICU RN

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every third weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement includes the 4th of July
• No call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally stretching to 1:3
• 16-bed ICU unit
• Float to lower levels of care including PCU and MedSurg with training provided
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and myocardial infarction
• Must be experienced with drips, ventilators, and BiPAPs
• Required to titrate drips including vasopressors and sedation medications such as Levophed, Neo, Cardene, Precedex, and Propofol
• Must be able to read and verify telemetry strips (centralized monitor techs will also read)
• Telemetry monitors are Draeger brand
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• No nursing aides on unit
• Respiratory therapy shared with ER; RT handles all ventilator adjustments
• Hospitalist available 24/7 in-house; intensivist in-house during day hours and available via telemedicine at night
• 1 orientation shift for ICU and 1 orientation shift for PCU
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Charting system: EPIC
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred; travel experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• PALS and TNCC preferred
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required to pass
• Trauma Level 3 facility
• Acute care setting

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 16-bed Medical ICU specializing in the treatment of critical conditions including sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and cardiac events. The facility is a Level 3 trauma center offering comprehensive critical care services with 24/7 hospitalist coverage and daytime intensivist support supplemented by telemedicine during overnight hours. The organization utilizes EPIC as its electronic health record system and maintains high standards of patient care across multiple levels of care including ICU, PCU, and MedSurg units.
