Opportunity:

RN - SICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour variable day and night shifts (mostly days), 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (more if willing/able)
• Every other holiday required (more if willing/able)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 standard, 1:1 for higher acuity patients (CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, OPO), 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients
• Care for cardiovascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), traumas, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical patients requiring ICU care
• Must have experience with high acuity patient populations
• All nurses required to care for POD 1 heart patients; immediate post-op heart patients cared for 1:1 by specifically trained nurses
• Required to titrate drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, propofol, precedex, vasopressin, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience not required but preferred
• RNs responsible for monitoring own patient telemetry and reading/documenting rhythm strips using GE monitors
• Respiratory therapy support available 24/7 with full equipment including vents, BiPAP, and vapotherm
• Intensivist in house 24/7
• Charge nurse present on every shift; nursing house supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aide available during day shift for entire unit
• If not needed in SICU, may float to MICU or serve as patient observer within the hospital
• No specific scrub color required; clean and professional appearance expected
• One day of system onboarding/CBT completion followed by two orientation shifts on unit
• Must complete skills checklist
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: TNCC

Facility:

This acute care facility operates as a tertiary care center and Level 2 trauma center, providing comprehensive surgical and critical care services to the surrounding region. The SICU unit consists of 16 beds plus 2 additional procedural beds, supporting a wide range of complex surgical specialties including cardiovascular, neurosurgery, vascular, and orthopedic surgery. The facility maintains robust around-the-clock support with intensivists, respiratory therapists, and nursing house supervisors available 24/7 to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
