Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• Three 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule
• Weekend coverage required with approximately 6 weekends per 13-week contract
• Patient ratios of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• 2-3 years of experience required, first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, and Neonatal Resuscitation Course
• Charting system: Meditech experience required
• Scrub color: Any color permitted
• Free parking available
• Must be comfortable treating patient age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, colostomy/ileostomy management, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), IV insulin protocols, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac
• Special equipment includes CPAP/BiPAP and wound vacs
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to other units may be required if another unit is short staffed
• Call required only if low census
• Expect to work some holidays
• No block scheduling greater than three or four shifts
• Requests for time off should be kept to a minimum, with no requests in the first two weeks of assignment

Facility:

This acute care hospital is a Level 3 Trauma, Critical Access Hospital with 25 beds and 25 rooms. The facility provides comprehensive patient care services with a daily census of approximately 6 patients and offers strong interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. The facility is located approximately one hour south of Hays Medical.
