Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement varies depending on staffing, potentially every other weekend
• Holiday requirement on a rotational basis
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for step-down patients and 1:6 for medical/surgical patients
• Care for trauma and general medical/surgical patient population including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, and complex trauma patients
• Manage respiratory-compromised patients including BiPap management, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomies, and chronic vent-dependent patients
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Labetalol, Amiodarone, and others as required
• Perform basic EKG interpretation with telemetry tech support for strip reading
• Work alongside clinical associates and nurse aides with a 3:8 aide-to-patient ratio
• Float on a rotational basis with other staff members on the unit
• Strong assessment skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment required
• Charting completed in EPIC
• Scrub color requirement: Royal blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS

Facility:

This acute care facility is home to a Level 1 Trauma Center, the only Level 1 designation in the state. The medical/surgical step-down unit features 24 spacious private rooms with state-of-the-art monitoring capabilities, including 11 rooms equipped with in-ceiling lifts to support early patient mobilization. The facility offers comprehensive specialty care including reconstructive plastic surgery with microvascular free flaps, advanced diabetic management, and complex wound management, with charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7.
