Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend, Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Monday
• Holiday rotation with core staff required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:3 for overflow or PCU downgrade patients
• Care for critically ill patients with complex needs including sepsis, acute MI, renal patients, post vascular procedures, strokes, TIA, seizures, ARDS, and cardiovascular procedures
• Age population served includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Required to titrate critical drips including vasopressors and sedation (Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin)
• Perform invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Manage ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation via trach and ET tube
• Work with equipment including telemetry, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and specialty beds
• RNs responsible for reading telemetry strips - no monitor technician on unit
• Charge nurse primarily without patients and house supervisor available 24/7
• Hospitalist available 24/7; intensivist not always present
• Respiratory therapy available as needed but not stationed in ICU
• Required to float to Stepdown, and occasionally to Med-Surg/Telemetry or to care for patients boarded in the Emergency Department
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
• Preferred certifications: PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Minimum two years of critical care experience required; ICU experience with CRRT and IABP required; Impella experience preferred
• Travel experience required; no travel duos
• BSN not required
• Dress code: Navy scrubs, solid color with no embroidery or patterns; approved fleece zip-ups in grey, black, navy, or royal blue; solid undershirts in white, grey, or black; closed-toe shoes only, no crocs

The unit is supported by a 24/7 house supervisor and hospitalist coverage, with readily available respiratory therapy services.
