Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with rotating start times including 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, 10:00 AM-10:00 PM, 11:00 AM-11:00 PM, 12:00 PM-Midnight, and 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Primary shift is 7:00 PM-7:30 AM with every other weekend requirement
• Holiday rotation with core staff to meet the needs of the unit
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Flexibility to work all shifts is key, including rotating between days and nights
• 24-bed emergency department treating 60-80 patients per 24 hours
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, adjusted based on staffing and acuity
• Provide emergency care in a community hospital setting treating patients from neonates to geriatrics
• Common diagnoses include respiratory viruses, MVA, MI, and a wide range of conditions from minor injuries to critical cases
• Administer and manage all critical care drips
• Perform moderate sedation procedures and assist with lumbar punctures
• Required to read and interpret patient monitor data independently
• May assist with blood draws alongside ED techs
• May be required to transport patients to imaging when needed
• Potential to float to Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or ICU units
• Scrub color requirement: solid colors of professional scrubs
• Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts plus HR onboarding
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• 3+ years of ER experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Illinois nursing license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNS or TNCC, NIHSS

Facility:

This community hospital operates a 24-bed emergency department that is STEMI and Stroke ready, with access to a cath lab depending on the day and hours. The facility provides emergency care for a wide range of conditions and patient populations, from neonates to geriatrics, and includes four behavioral health safe rooms integrated within the emergency department. The department is supported by in-house security available 24/7, a house supervisor around the clock, respiratory therapy, ED technicians, and patient care liaisons to ensure comprehensive, team-based care.
