Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement with possible holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on acuity
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
• Required to titrate drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
• Required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips including performing measurements and identifying rhythms
• Expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as BiPAP, Airvo, and trachs as appropriate
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemakers
• Travelers are first to float and may be floated to any inpatient unit
• Charge nurse available on each shift with varying patient assignment responsibilities
• Monitor technician available 24/7 on unit
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 and assigned to unit
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available for ADLs, vitals, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugars
• Charting system: Cerner
• 2-day general orientation followed by 1 day with a preceptor
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• BSN not required
• Must submit a copy of unexpired driver's license with application
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

The facility offers comprehensive 24/7 support services including respiratory therapy, telemetry monitoring, and nocturnist coverage for the entire hospital at night.
