Opportunity:

RN - Medical Surgical

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend requirement of minimum 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period, with potential for more based on need (Nights: Friday and Saturday, Days: Saturday or Sunday)
• Holiday shifts required based on need
• No on-call or standby requirement
• May float to Labor & Delivery or Emergency Department as needed
• Unit consists of 10 beds that can expand to 18
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:4, average 1:5, with rare occasions of 1:6
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics including typical Med-Surg patients (pneumonia, CHF, COPD, hysterectomy, choles, appys), babies with elevated bilirubin, asthma exacerbation, and SWING bed/rehab patients
• Rarely required to titrate drips; common drips include insulin and antibiotics
• May serve as charge nurse or preceptor on occasion
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at 1:10 ratio
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and occasional high flow (no vents); RT will set up and monitor
• Remote tele tech on unit; ability to read telemetry strips preferred
• Charting system: EPIC
• Two 12-hour orientation shifts on the unit with a preceptor
• Any scrub color and patterns allowed; scrubs provided but not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP

This acute care facility operates a Medical Surgical unit with the capacity to expand based on patient volume and needs. The unit supports a broad patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics and is equipped with modern monitoring technology. The facility provides a collaborative environment with charge nurses, patient care techs, and respiratory therapy support, ensuring comprehensive care delivery across all shifts.
