Opportunity:
NICU RN
Job Details:
• PM shift position
• Every other weekend required with approximately 16 weekend shifts per contract
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Floating required to a stepdown NICU unit
• 3 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Scrub color: Hunter Green
• Care for patients on CPAP/HFNC/RAM and intermediate level patients
• Patient population includes neonates 29-34 weeks and neonates greater than 34 weeks
• Required skills include: NICU II and NICU III, telemetry monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia, phototherapy, breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, isolation precautions/PPE, neonatal sepsis, sepsis work up, IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, central line/implanted line care, starting and maintaining IVs, antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, neonatal dosage calculations, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Additional skills include: developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Documentation system: Cerner
Facility:
This facility operates a neonatal intensive care unit with 36 beds and a daily census of 28 patients across 28 rooms. The unit provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary assistance. The NICU manages a wide range of neonatal diagnoses including respiratory distress syndrome and hyperbilirubinemia, with an additional stepdown NICU unit available to support varying levels of patient acuity.
