Opportunity:
RN - NICU/Nursery
Job Details:
• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• Schedule is made by leadership for 6 weeks at a time; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Level 2 NICU with 6 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-3 babies
• Common diagnoses and patient types include hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, pre-term babies learning to bottle feed and gain weight, and withdrawing babies due to maternal drug use
• NICU RNs attend C-sections and vaginal deliveries, with responsibilities focused solely on the baby
• May be asked to care for stable postpartum mothers and babies; training will be provided if traveler lacks experience caring for mothers
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; prior travel experience preferred
• May be floated to a sister facility approximately 26 miles away if census is low or there is a need
• Rare call or standby requirement due to low census
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• 1-3 shifts of orientation with a preceptor
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Blue hospital scrubs provided
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a Level 2 NICU utilizing an LDRP model, where registered nurses are embedded directly within the unit. The facility prioritizes safe staffing based on patient acuity and maintains a structured charge RN system for both NICU and labor and delivery. The unit is supported by a combination of NICU and labor and delivery charge nurses to ensure comprehensive patient care across departments.
