Opportunity:

RN - Med Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour day/evening shifts starting at either 7:00 AM or 11:00 AM
• Night shift hours available from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Holiday requirement of 2/3 during winter and every other during other times
• 36-hour work week option available
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Day/Evening 1:4-5, Nights 1:6 (possibility of 1:7 when working short)
• Nurse aide support available with ratios of 1:7-9 on day/evening and 1:14 overnight
• Centralized tele techs monitor and read strips - nurses are required to be tele aware but not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse and house supervisor on all shifts - travelers may be asked to step into charge role if comfortable, particularly on night shift
• Respiratory therapy available in-house 24/7 overseeing multiple units
• Must have acute care experience and comfort with complex patients
• Must have experience with drips and be comfortable titrating drips as needed
• Common titratable drips include insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, and octreotide
• Must be comfortable managing blood transfusions
• No oncology or chemotherapy knowledge required
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Travel pairs will not be accepted
• Float requirement within med-surgery units; floating done in 4-hour increments
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Any color scrubs permitted, no logo from other health systems
• Orientation consists of 1 day of computer training/CBT/regulatory and one 12-hour shift on the floor
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a 27-bed Medical Telemetry unit. The unit specializes in treating a diverse patient population including oncology/hematology, general medical, GI bleed, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and other complex medical conditions. The facility provides comprehensive support services including centralized telemetry monitoring, respiratory therapy available in-house 24/7, and dedicated charge nurses and house supervisors on all shifts to ensure high-quality patient care.
