Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/MedSurg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays worked as scheduled, expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor patients
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Must be able to handle assignments of up to 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (step-down)
• EPIC charting experience required
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Will work with CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down; HiFlow and vents in step-down (vents requiring settings adjustments transferred to ICU)
• Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used; remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring available; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 3 CAs per shift at a 1:10 ratio
• First to float or be pulled to other floor or step-down units
• Dress code: Any combination of royal blue and white scrubs
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment; 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 29-bed step-down and med-surg unit currently under construction, with all beds equipped for step-down care upon opening in the first quarter of 2026. The unit operates with charge RNs and house supervisors available 24/7, with the goal of maintaining a free charge RN at all times. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment, supported by a remote telemetry surveillance center to ensure comprehensive patient monitoring.
