Opportunity:

RN - Medical Surgical

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation on a rotating schedule
• No on-call requirement; standby is on an as-needed basis for low census situations
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (max 6) on daylight, 1:6 (max 7) on night shift
• 27-bed unit with Patient Care Technicians available on each shift
• Charge nurse present on each shift; night turn charge may carry a small assignment of 2-3 patients
• Common diagnoses include orthopedic (post-op knee/hip/shoulder replacements, hip fractures), GU (TURBT, TURP, bladder biopsy), general surgery (hemicolectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair), and cath lab (post peripheral interventions, dialysis cath insertions)
• Must be proficient in blood transfusions, wound vac changes, and PCA pumps
• Heparin drip titration per protocol required
• Respiratory therapy on unit manages CPAP and BiPAP; nursing applies high flow as patient condition warrants; no vents on this unit
• Telemetry strips interpreted by monitor tech on another unit; nursing not required to read own strips
• Charting system: Cerner
• Floating on a rotating basis to other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC units as needed
• Navy blue or white scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
• Orientation: 1 day with educator, 1-2 days with preceptor
• Required certifications: BLS
• BSN not required; valid RN license required
• Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius; copy of unexpired driver's license required at submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
