Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg Oncology
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required as needed to fill staffing needs
• Holiday rotation participation required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Charge nurse present on each shift and does not take patients
• CNAs available on unit with a 1:8 ratio
• Tele techs on unit; must be able to respond appropriately to life-threatening rhythms
• RT equipment includes CPAP and High Flow
• Common diagnoses and patient types include BMT, oncology, GYN ONC surgeries, hospice, and med/surg patients
• Pain medication drips and PCAs commonly administered
• Travelers are first to float to med/surg units and may be asked to float to sister facilities
• Any color scrubs permitted; no hoods allowed
• 2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN required
• Required certifications: BLS
• Chemo or oncology and/or BMT experience preferred; chemo certification required to administer chemotherapy
• Minimum 1 year of oncology experience required; general med/surg nurses must have a minimum of 2 years of experience
• First-time travelers accepted
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a 24-bed Medical Surgical Oncology unit on the fourth floor, specializing in the care of oncology, BMT, GYN ONC surgical, hospice, and general med/surg patients. The unit is known for its strong emphasis on teamwork and maintains a dedicated charge nurse on every shift who is not assigned a patient load. The facility supports staff with tele techs, CNAs, and respiratory therapy equipment to ensure comprehensive patient care.
