Opportunity:
PCU RN
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Level of care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• 55-bed unit located on 4th Floor East Wing
• RN patient ratio of 1:4 for both day and night shifts
• Adult patient population; pediatric patients age 15 and older on rare occasions
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma, and weakness
• Common drips and medications include PCA pumps for pain management, Cardizem, and insulin
• Telemetry competency required
• Charting system: EPIC
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room
• Nursing assistant support, charge nurse, educator, care managers, social workers, dieticians, PT, and OT available on unit
• Float capability required, ideally to medical-surgical areas based on highest need
• Scrub colors: Navy Blue for RNs, Ceil Blue for CNAs
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Pass/Fail open book exam required during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Radius rule: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical services across multiple specialized units. The 4th Floor East Wing Progressive Care Unit is a tight-knit, collaborative environment supported by a multidisciplinary team including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and physical and occupational therapists. The facility prioritizes patient experience through hourly rounding and staff responsiveness.
