Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg / Ortho

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays in with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• 22-bed unit with an average daily census of 6
• Common patient diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements, and spinal procedures
• Nurse aids and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:13 ratio
• Telemetry boxes on unit with tele techs available to read and interpret strips
• RNs are not required to titrate drips; common drips include pain medications, antibiotics, and blood
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Floating may be required to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU taking MedSurg acuity
• 1 day of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Required certification: BLS
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
• Requested time off must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical and surgical services to the community. The orthopedic and medical-surgical unit specializes in post-operative care for joint replacement and spinal procedures, supported by a collaborative team environment. The facility utilizes EPIC for charting and maintains 24/7 phlebotomy services to support patient care needs.
