Opportunity:
RN - Stepdown
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend requirements: every other weekend
• Holiday requirements: as needed to meet unit needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 with CNA support at a 1:10 ratio
• Unit contains 33 beds in an acute care setting
• Patients include young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex multisystem failure
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
• RNs required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• RT equipment includes BiPAP and Airvo
• Floating may be required to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Orientation consists of one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

This acute care facility operates a busy stepdown unit with a strong emphasis on teamwork, patient experience, and quality care. The unit maintains a fast-paced environment with frequent patient admissions and discharges, and is actively transitioning to a virtual nursing model to enhance patient care delivery. The facility supports staff with dedicated charge nurses, CNA assistance, and comprehensive orientation to ensure success in this dynamic clinical setting.
