Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend nights schedule Friday through Sunday
• 3 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule (Saturday, Sunday, Saturday)
• Holiday shifts required as needed
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating requirement is very rare
• 3 shifts of unit orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Patient ratios: 1:3 for stepdown assignments, 1:4 for combo assignments (2 stepdown & 2 floor or 3 stepdown & 1 floor)
• Care for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients on a 32-bed stepdown unit
• Must have strong MedSurg Stepdown experience and ability to titrate drips with specific parameters per MD orders
• Common titratable drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix (no vasopressors)
• Must be able to interpret and chart patient rhythms with assessments every 4 hours or more frequently during medication titration
• Experience with BiPap and tracheostomy patients required (no ventilators)
• Charting system: EPIC
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 32-bed stepdown unit with a comprehensive support structure including 1 charge nurse and 3 house supervisors in-house per shift, along with 3-4 CNAs per shift. The unit is equipped with centralized telemetry monitoring at the nurses station as well as individual patient room monitors, with centralized telemetry interpreting and placing EKG strips into patient charts. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and provides structured unit orientation to ensure a smooth transition for incoming staff.
