Opportunity:

ICU RN

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both day (6:30 AM - 6:30 PM) and night (6:30 PM - 6:30 AM) shifts
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract time frame
• Self-scheduling for travelers added into core staff schedule; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• RTO of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• 33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adults
• Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• RNs required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• RNs required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; monitoring system is GE with tele tech oversight
• Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilator; RNs are required to troubleshoot as needed
• Floating may occur to PCU or occasionally Med/Surg with a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail open-book exam administered during orientation; minimum passing score of 90% required
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive critical care services across a wide range of complex diagnoses. The ICU department is well-equipped with modern monitoring technology and a supportive care team that includes nurse aides and healthcare support technicians. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains structured scheduling and staffing practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
