Opportunity:
RN - PCU
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts with schedule options of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-week scheduling rotations managed by unit schedulers
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (night weekends are Fridays and Saturdays)
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
• Floating requirements include Med/Surg and all areas of the hospital, including ICU and ED depending on abilities
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on a 28-bed Progressive Care Unit
• Nurse aide and patient care tech support available at a 1:14 ratio
• Telemetry monitoring available on unit - RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, octreotide, insulin, Cardizem, and nitroglycerin
• Common patient population includes adults with mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke diagnoses, primarily arriving through the ER
• Specialty equipment includes Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, Hoyer lift, and Sit and Stand
• Charting completed in EPIC
• High flow unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges
• First week of orientation is classroom-based, followed by two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Pass/Fail open book exam administered during orientation with a required passing score of 90%
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Radius rule: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
• Requested time off must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract

This acute care facility operates a 28-bed Progressive Care Unit providing specialized care for adult patients with cardiac, stroke, and mixed medical/surgical conditions. The unit is supported by telemetry monitoring, charge nurses on every shift, and a variety of specialty equipment to ensure comprehensive patient care. The facility is a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and collaboration among its nursing staff.
