Opportunity:
ICU Float
Job Details:
• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule
• Must float within Zone 3 facilities, all located within 60 miles of Denver City Center: OrthoColorado Hospital (Lakewood, CO), Longmont United Hospital (Longmont, CO), St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, CO), and St. Anthony North Hospital (Westminster, CO)
• No home base facility - must live within 60 miles of each facility listed in Zone 3
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance following one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility for the week with possible floating within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling with facility assigned 1-2 hours before shift start
• May be asked to float into any other acuity level including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• May be asked to participate in Holiday Rotation
• Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2 dependent on acuity; may flex up to 1:3; 1:1 for high acuity patients such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella
• Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and more
• Required to read and interpret own telemetry strips - no monitor tech on unit
• Expected to assist in troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and breathing treatments
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience; first-time travelers must have 3+ years of ICU experience and Epic experience
• Travel experience preferred
• Charting system: Epic
• 1-2 days of orientation with a preceptor
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Any color scrubs accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
Facility:
This floating ICU assignment spans multiple acute care facilities across Zone 3 in the greater Denver metropolitan area. The facilities include a combination of ICU types including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU settings. Each facility offers designated charge nurses per unit, respiratory therapy support, and utilizes Epic as the primary charting system. The organization provides structured scheduling released 4-6 weeks in advance to support staff planning and flexibility.
