Opportunity:

RN - MS-Tele Float

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Schedule is created by leadership 4-6 weeks in advance; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Float position covering Zone 4 (based around Garden City, KS) with a 60-mile radius; must obtain housing that makes floating throughout the full zone feasible
• Float facilities include Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (Ulysses, KS), St. Catherine-Dodge City (Dodge City, KS), and St. Catherine-Garden City (Garden City, KS)
• No home base facility; may be assigned to a single facility for the week or receive a just-in-time (JIT) assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
• May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Float pool includes multiple units: General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Common patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
• Required to titrate Heparin drips
• RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP present on unit
• Nurse aides available on unit
• Charting system: EPIC; Alaris and EPIC experience preferred
• Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years; prior neuro experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare call or standby requirement for low census
• Cancellation policy: hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract

The facilities offer a wide range of specialty care including cardiac, neuro, oncology, orthopedic, and surgical services, among others. The organization utilizes EPIC for electronic charting and maintains designated charge nurses on each unit to support clinical staff and ensure quality patient care.
