RN - 6S Post-OP/Oncology/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available on days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every-other-weekend requirement with Saturday and Sunday shifts for both days and nights
• Work in the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff
• 36-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
• 3 CNAs available on both day and night shifts
• Care for general MedSurg patients, some post-operative patients (lap chole, lap appy - no post-op ortho), and oncology patients with complications including neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
• Experience with chest tubes required; experience with PleurX chest tubes is a strong plus
• Occasional psychiatric patients who may require 1:1 monitoring with a sitter
• Heparin drip management required; no cardiac drips on this unit
• Telemetry experience required - Phillips monitors with a central monitor tech; RNs must be able to read and interpret strips independently
• CPAP and BiPAP patients on unit; respiratory therapy manages all respiratory equipment
• ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Charting system: EPIC
• Royal blue scrubs required
• No false nails permitted
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver's license with application
• Candidate must reside outside of a 50-mile radius

Facility:

This Level 2 trauma acute care facility offers a well-supported clinical environment with charge nurse coverage available 24/7. The 6S Post-OP/Oncology/Telemetry unit is a 36-bed unit equipped with Phillips telemetry monitors and a hospital-wide central monitor tech. Respiratory therapy is on hand to manage CPAP and BiPAP equipment, and CNA support is provided on both day and night shifts. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic charting system and maintains a structured cancellation policy of 2 shifts per 13-week contract.
