Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg Oncology
Job Details:
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• Weekend and holiday requirements apply
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4-5:1 on days and 4-6:1 on nights
• 32-bed MedSurg Oncology unit
• CNAs available with a 1:8 ratio
• Charge nurse on unit who will rarely take patients
• Charting system: EPIC
• 2 years of experience required; medical/surgical experience required
• Chemo experience only required if noted in interview queue submission
• Must be competent with chest tubes, central lines, and heparin drips
• Common patient diagnoses include medical oncology, general assessments, IV starts, portacath access, and medication administration
• RT equipment includes CPAP and High Flow
• Standby requirement for low census
• Floating may be required to Heart Center, General Medicine, Post-Surgical, and Ortho-Neuro units
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling
• Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Required certifications: BLS; ONS, CHPN, and OCN preferred
• BSN not required
• Scrubs required; any color acceptable
• No tattoos above shoulders, only nose studs permitted as facial piercings, and natural hair color only
Facility:
This acute care facility operates at a Trauma Level 2 designation, providing comprehensive medical services across a range of specialties. The MedSurg Oncology department is a 32-bed unit supported by a dedicated charge nurse and certified nursing assistants. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains high standards of patient care across multiple units including the Heart Center, General Medicine, Post-Surgical, and Ortho-Neuro departments.
