Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• Days nurse-to-patient ratio: 4-5:1; Nights nurse-to-patient ratio: 5-6:1
• Unit consists of 41 beds including 12 semi-private rooms and 29 private rooms
• Unit sees medical, surgical, orthopedic, and occasional behavioral health patients
• General nursing duties include assessment, care planning, patient education, medication administration, wound care, and communication with the interdisciplinary care team
• Procedures include chest tube management, trach care, assisting with paracentesis or thoracentesis, and care of behavioral health patients with medical emergencies
• Monitor telemetry patients, manage admits and discharges
• Ward secretary and nursing aides available to assist as needed
• Potential to float to Telemetry, Observation, Acute Rehab, or Post-Partum if not needed in Med Surg; travelers will be first to float per union contract
• Equipment utilized includes Epic for charting, AccuDose medication system, EZ Stand, Hoyer Lift, Overbed Lift, SCDs, Glucometers, and Space Labs Vitals Machines
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Must badge in and out at the facility
• Active Minnesota RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of medical surgical experience required
• EPIC experience required
• Orthopedic patient experience highly preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
