RN - Neuro

Job Details:

• Full-time night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement varies by position: weekend day positions cover Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; weekend night positions cover Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; weeknight positions require every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday rotation participation required
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for floor patients with nurse aides available at 1:7-10 ratios
• 20-bed unit with 14 floor beds
• Work with common diagnoses including neurosciences, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders
• Strong overall neuro experience required
• Proficiency and frequent use of G-tubes required
• Recent EPIC experience required for charting
• Telemetry present on unit; RNs verify monitor tech strip readings in EPIC rather than reading strips independently
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs not required to have ventilator experience as floor vents are managed by RT and physician
• Titration performed by physician orders only; protocols provided during orientation
• Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then to other hospital units as needed
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of white and royal blue
• One orientation shift on the unit
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
• Any background hits must be disclosed at time of submission

This acute care facility operates a dedicated neuroscience unit providing specialized care for patients with complex neurological conditions. The unit supports a wide range of diagnoses and procedures including stroke care, seizure management, deep brain stimulation, and post-operative spinal care. The facility maintains 24/7 charge nurse and respiratory therapy coverage, ensuring comprehensive support for both staff and patients throughout all shifts.
