Opportunity:
RN - ED Boarders/Observation
Job Details:
• Night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Block scheduling potential available but not guaranteed
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 6-week period (2 Saturdays and 2 Sundays), along with 3 Mondays and 3 Fridays
• Only one holiday RTO request permitted
• Travel partners are not allowed
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Experience with pre-cardiac cath and managing ports required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Active compact license required at time of submission
• Patient ratio experience: 5 to 6 patients
• Float potential between campuses and to Observation Units, Medical/Surgical, and Medical/Surgical Telemetry units as needed
• Support ED boarders across the system — patients waiting for a bed in the ED requiring inpatient care; will float to observation units when boarder census is low
• Skills required include: accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, chest tube management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post hemodialysis management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Special equipment includes lift equipment, iPad for communication, and pacemaker interrogation
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Scrubs must be navy blue with no agency or brand logos
• Nails must be less than 1/4 inch in length; natural fingernails required for direct patient care with polish acceptable
• No nose rings or gauged earrings permitted
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space
• No cafeteria on-site; refrigerator and microwave provided
