Opportunity:

RN Neuro ICU

Job Details:

• Day and night rotating shifts with variable days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs - minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• No on-call required
• Floating to sister facilities in the metro region may be required per facility needs
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with at least 1 year in a dedicated Neuro specialty ICU
• First-time travelers accepted if required experience is met
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Navy
• Maximum 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
• RTO is not allowed during the following time periods: September 2 – September 12, 2026; October 25 – November 4, 2026; November 22 – December 2, 2026; December 20 – January 3, 2027
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and valid state license
• Must be competent in hourly neurological assessments
• Required skills include: Intracranial Pressure (ICP) management, External Ventricular Drain (EVD/Ventric) management, Subarachnoid Hemorrhage management, post-thrombectomy management, and post-craniotomy management
• Additional required skills: arterial line management, central line care, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, lumbar drain management, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, procedural sedation, and spinal cord/traumatic brain injury care
• Special equipment used includes: EVD, lumbar drain, Arctic Sun, Camino bolt, BIS monitoring, and Cheeta noninvasive cardiac output monitoring
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Trauma Level I experience preferred; Trauma Level II experience required

Facility:

This facility operates a 24-bed Neurosurgical ICU within a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level I Trauma Center. The unit is high acuity and fast paced, treating a wide range of complex neurological and surgical patients including craniotomies for tumor resections, aneurysm clippings, seizure mapping, spine cases, embolic and hemorrhagic stroke patients, subarachnoid hemorrhage patients, and neuro trauma patients. The facility offers robust interdisciplinary support and access to advanced neuro-surgical procedures and interventional radiology services.
