Opportunity:
WNTR BLOCK 1ST TIMERS - Level III NICU RN
Job Details:
• Block schedules required
• Weekends required - 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period with variable, self-scheduling
• No on-call required
• 48-hour shifts approved
• Expected patient ratios of 1:2-4
• Self-scheduling model
• May float PRN to Pediatrics, PICU, and Pediatric ED
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; Level III experience preferred as this is a Level IV unit
• Open to contracts longer than 13 weeks
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Charting system experience required; Epic system used
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs
• Parking is free in any unrestricted space
• Required advanced skills include: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, central line care, high frequency ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide, oscillators, UAC/UVC catheter management, tracheostomy care, and management of chest tubes
• Additional skills include: neonatal dosage calculations, neonatal sepsis management, APGAR scoring, phototherapy, phlebotomy, developmental care, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), and patient/family teaching
• Care for neonatal patient population with diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, HIE, and surgical subspecialties excluding cardiac
• Unit has 43 beds with a daily census of 35
• Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
Facility:
This is a children's hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 181 total staffed beds. The facility provides specialized neonatal care at the Level IV NICU level, supporting a wide range of complex neonatal diagnoses and surgical subspecialties. The unit is equipped with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including interpretation services, and maintains a collaborative care environment for the neonatal patient population.
