Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work in an ICU setting with 5 ICU beds and 3 stepdown beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, sometimes 1:3 depending on overflow
• Care for ICU patient types including ventilator, BiPAP, Airvo, bariatric surgery, and general surgery patients
• Manage drips including propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Float between ICU, stepdown, and Med Surg units as needed
• Med Surg unit has 23 beds with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Med Surg patient types include bariatric surgery, orthopedic, and general med surg patients
• Every third weekend schedule required
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• No on-call responsibilities
• 24 months of recent or current ICU experience required
• Med Surg experience strongly encouraged
• Travel experience within previous 24 months required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Telemetry reads and measures required
• Must be comfortable caring for 2-5 patients
• All candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
• NIHSS certificate preferred but can be obtained during onboarding
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license required

This healthcare facility operates both an Intensive Care Unit and a Medical Surgical unit, providing comprehensive inpatient care to a diverse patient population. The ICU specializes in caring for critically ill patients requiring ventilator support, advanced drip management, and post-surgical care, while the Med Surg unit focuses on bariatric, orthopedic, and general medical surgical patients. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and maintains high standards of patient care across multiple units.
