Opportunity:

RN - MST/PCU (Med Surg Tele/PCU)

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both day shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement; Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday and Sunday for day shift
• Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly
• Unit consists of 30 beds across three 10-bed units
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Nurse aides manage 10-15 patients; if no NA is present, RN takes 3 patients and provides primary care
• Care for both MST and PCU patients including surgical and medical diagnoses such as total hip and knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, MRSA, C-diff infections, COPD, pneumonia, and chest pain
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips; remote monitor techs are available on unit
• Care for stable C-PAP and Bi-PAP patients
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Float responsibilities include Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit for adult MST care, and West Campus MedSurg Tele
• First to float per shift notes
• May be asked to precept nursing students
• Minimum of 1 year of MedSurg experience required; telemetry experience preferred
• Must be willing to care for both MST and PCU patients
• Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Any scrub color may be worn except camouflage
• Cancellation policy: 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if contract is under 13 weeks
• Low census standby rotation may apply depending on contract terms

This acute care facility operates a Med Surg Tele and PCU unit with 30 beds across three dedicated 10-bed units. The facility provides comprehensive inpatient services including surgical, medical, and telemetry care, supported by remote monitor technicians and a charge RN overseeing 50 inpatient beds. The organization also includes a Multi Care Unit and Pediatric unit, reflecting its broad scope of patient care services.
