Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg 3CC
Job Details:
• Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement with holidays as needed
• First to float designation with floating to medical and telemetry units
• 30-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Common patient diagnoses include total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery (lap appendectomy, bowel resection), bariatrics, and medical overflow
• Frequent use of hemovacs and JP drains, as well as colostomy care
• Occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, and TPN management
• No drip titration required
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:12 ratio
• Remote telemetry packs with monitor techs available to read and interpret strips
• RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips
• Respiratory therapy equipment limited to nasal cannula with RT performing treatments
• Charge nurse present on both shifts with nights occasionally taking low acuity assignments
• Bedside shift report is an expectation
• Day and night rotation will not occur more than weekly; block scheduling considered if unit needs are met
• Surgical experience, post-op care, and early ambulation experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
• Scrubs of any color permitted
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certification: BLS

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of surgical and medical services. The MedSurg unit is known for its close-knit team and positive unit culture, supporting a diverse patient population that includes post-surgical and medical overflow cases. The facility utilizes EPIC for charting and maintains dedicated support staff including patient care technicians and monitor technicians to ensure high-quality patient care.
