Opportunity:

RN - Float Pool

Job Details:

• Float between MedSurg/Telemetry and Stepdown units including MS units (1E/S, 1W, 2E/S, 4E), Step-down IMCU (3W), IRU Rehab, and ED Holding
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Acute care setting
• EOW weekend requirement with 2 Fridays required per schedule for MedSurg units; EOW Fri/Sat/Sun for Stepdown nights
• Work into permanent staff holiday rotation
• Navy blue scrubs required; jackets if worn must also be navy blue
• MedSurg patient ratios of 1:6-7; Stepdown ratios of 1:4-5 (1:6 if MedSurg acuity)
• MedSurg patients may include post-surgical, ortho, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end of life, and low-volume inpatient chemo cases
• Must be comfortable with assignment to both clean and isolation patients simultaneously on MedSurg
• Stepdown patients are heavy cardiac including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICU
• MedSurg drips include Heparin and comfort care medications; no cardiac drips
• Stepdown requires ability to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin
• Must be able to manage Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow oxygen (all managed per Respiratory Therapy)
• MedSurg tele patients monitored remotely by monitor tech on 3rd floor; no bedside monitors on unit
• Stepdown RNs must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips; unit serves as central monitor station for entire hospital
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7 on Stepdown; Intensivist available 7 days/week 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with after-hours on-call
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available in-house 24/7
• Block scheduling allowed as long as unit needs are met
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Charting system: Epic
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS required for MedSurg; ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required for Stepdown
