Opportunity:
RN - CVICU
Job Details:
• Work 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Patient ratio of 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Self-scheduling
• 48 hours of orientation required
• Travel experience required
• 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• 1-year minimum experience with EPIC EMR required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Green scrubs required
• Care for adult patients post-sternotomy, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair, aortic dissection, carotid endarterectomy, lobectomy, mediastinoscopy, and other cardiothoracic procedures
• Care for vascular patients with extensive co-morbidities and complications
• Manage advanced devices including CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Centrimag, VAD, and PA catheters
• Skills required include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, epicardial pacing wire care, ventilator management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Float to other units and/or campuses may be required based on census needs, limited to qualified areas where competencies have been demonstrated
Facility:
This healthcare facility operates a specialized cardiovascular intensive care unit with 12 beds and a daily census of 10, dedicated to providing advanced cardiac and thoracic patient care. The unit supports a highly complex patient population requiring specialized devices and interventions, with robust interdisciplinary support services available. The facility maintains high standards of care and utilizes the EPIC electronic medical records system.
