Opportunity:

PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

• PCU/Stepdown position with cardiac drip experience required - must be able to titrate and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Every other weekend required (Friday-Saturday for nights or Saturday-Sunday for days/evenings)
• No on-call required
• Block schedules not required
• 48-hour shifts approved
• Expected patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Position may float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Any color for RN
• No parking fee
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must be able to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (hard stop requirement)
• Key skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, heparin protocols, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, post cardiac angiogram/cath care, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib with RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart catheterization, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
• Special equipment includes cardiac monitoring and cardiac drip management
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day (candidates may choose one of either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but cannot have both)
• 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 total staffed beds. As a teaching hospital, it offers a comprehensive and dynamic clinical environment supported by interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more. The PCU/Stepdown unit consists of 42 beds and operates with robust specialty support services to ensure high-quality patient care.
