Opportunity:
RN - Cardiac PCU
Job Details:
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
• First-time travelers will not be accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units - must be flexible
• Patient ratio is 1:4 across the board (can be 1:5 at midnight); high acuity and special procedures ratio is 3:1
• Self-scheduling
• Epic experience is a hard stop requirement
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Provide pre/post open-heart surgery care, vascular surgery care, and pre/post cath lab care with or without interventions
• Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR
• Perform breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, and sternal precautions
• Administer blood and blood products
• Perform cardioversion/defibrillation and epicardial pacer management
• LVAD management and open heart 24-28 hours post-op care
• Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Manage stable cardiac drips including Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Antiarrhythmics, Beta Blockers, Cardizem, Hydralazine, Ketamine, Lasix, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, and Levophed
• Surgical telemetry experience required including open heart surgery experience and vascular (groin) radial band management
• IV skills and 2-3 years of telemetry experience required; VAD and TAVR experience optional
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Compact license must be in hand at submission
Facility:
This facility is a well-established healthcare organization offering comprehensive cardiac progressive care services with a dedicated cardiac PCU unit housing 36 beds. The unit provides specialized cardiac telemetry services and supports a wide range of complex cardiac and surgical patients. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretaries, and more.
