Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg Trauma Step-Down (8 Northeast)

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM on weeknights and weekends
• Day shift coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM every other weekend
• Weekend requirement depending on staffing needs, potentially every other weekend
• Holiday requirement on a rotational basis
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 with clinical associate assistance
• Care for trauma and general med/surg patients including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, and complex trauma cases
• Manage respiratory-compromised patients including BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomies, and chronic vent-dependent patients
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Labetalol, Amiodarone, and others as required
• Perform basic EKG interpretation with telemetry tech support available in a central location
• All 24 beds are monitored with telemetry and video monitoring available for patient safety
• Utilize in-ceiling lifts in 11 rooms to promote early patient mobilization
• Float on a rotational basis with other unit staff members
• Chart using EPIC electronic health record system
• Wear royal blue scrubs per dress code requirements
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS

This facility is home to a Level 1 Trauma Center, the only Level 1 trauma designation in the state of West Virginia. The 8 Northeast unit features 24 spacious private rooms with state-of-the-art monitoring capabilities and specializes in medical, surgical, and trauma patient populations. The unit provides a higher level of care for patients requiring 24-hour hemodynamic monitoring and offers exceptional learning opportunities for both seasoned nursing staff and newer nurses looking to expand their skill sets.
