Opportunity:
RN - Medsurg/Onc
Job Details:
• Day shifts available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement as needed
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 26-week contract with 48 guaranteed hours
• First to float to other MedSurg units; may float to ER holds occasionally, no mom/baby unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6
• 31-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include strokes, HTN, COPD, cellulitis, CHF, A-fib non-RVR, chest pain, post-ICU MI, AMS/behavioral, surgical overflow, and oncology patients requiring chemotherapy administration
• RNs required to titrate drips including Lasix and Heparin
• BiPAP stable and established trach patients with blow-by oxygen management required
• Tele packs utilized with monitor techs available for strip reading
• Charge nurse available as a resource on both shifts
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at a 1:8 ratio
• Charting system: EPIC
• Block scheduling will be considered if unit needs are met
• No specific scrub color required
• 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Maximum of 7 or fewer days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract period
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• First-time travelers accepted; experience with trach and BiPAP preferred but not required
• Oncology experience with chemotherapy administration preferred

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of inpatient medical and surgical services. The Medsurg/Oncology unit is known for its strong unit culture, teamwork, and family-oriented environment where travelers are welcomed and supported. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring technology and a dedicated charge nurse resource on every shift to ensure quality patient care.
