Opportunity:
RN - PCU
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (rotating)
• 6-week scheduling cycle managed by unit schedulers
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (night weekends are Fridays and Saturdays)
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff
• Floating requirements include Med/Surg and all areas of the hospital, including ICU/ED based on abilities
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on a 28-bed PCU unit
• Nurse aide/patient care tech ratio of 1:14
• Care for adult patients including mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke patients
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, octreotide, insulin, Cardizem, nitro, and maintenance IV medications
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry monitoring
• Specialty equipment includes Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, Hoyer Lift, and Sit and Stand
• High-flow unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Charting system: EPIC
• First week of orientation is classroom-based, followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Pass/fail open book exam required during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required to pass
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Radius rule: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required

This acute care facility operates a Progressive Care Unit with 28 beds, designed to provide an intermediate level of care for adult patients transitioning from higher acuity settings. The unit is a high-flow environment that emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, supported by telemetry monitoring technicians, nurse aides, and patient care techs. The facility is equipped with advanced specialty equipment to support diverse and complex patient care needs.
