Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg ICU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: 2 out of 3 major holidays or every other, based on unit needs
• 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4-5 PCU, and 1:5-6 Med Surg
• Care for adult and pediatric patients (15 years and older) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries
• Required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Work with equipment including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll-Thermoguard, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser
• Required to read and interpret cardiac monitoring using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry (no monitor techs on unit)
• Manage ventilator equipment ranging from nasal cannula to vents
• Charge nurse present on each shift and will attend RRTs and Codes
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at a 1:18 ratio
• Schedule is manager-assigned based on unit needs
• Float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Radius rule: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

This Level 1 Trauma Center serves as the primary tertiary hospital for its health system, operating a fast-paced 34-bed Med Surg ICU. The facility supports a collaborative team environment that fosters high-quality care, working alongside attending physicians, fellows, and residents. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring and treatment technology and is actively developing new programs such as a neuro interventionalist thrombectomy program.
